Maker Makey
The Makey Makey is an invention kit designed to connect everyday objects to computer keys. Using a circuit board, alligator clips, and a USB cable, the device uses closed loop electrical signals to send the computer either a keyboard stroke or mouse click signal.
The Makey Makey is an invention literacy tool. Invention Literacy is “the ability to read and write human made stuff”. It means you’re able to look at the world around you and think about how something works and how to make a new version of it. Or to make something else from it.
We like to call a Makey Makey, a Maker Makey.
MAKER MAKEY: ARCADE
Maker Makey: Arcade is a level up on our most popular program, Maker Arcade. Using Makey Makey with cardboard and other materials, your students will have the opportunity to make arcade games of their desire such as a marble run, basketball shooting, skee ball, wire game, or whatever tickles their fancy. The only limitation is creativity. Adding Makey Makey to the games brings another level of interaction into the learning experience. Students will be able to keep their games.
MAKER MAKEY: OPERATION
Maker Makey: Operation is our original Maker Makey program. Using Makey Makey will make their own version of the classic Operation game with cardboard and other materials. Students will be able to keep their Operation game.
MAKER MAKEY: PIANO
In Maker Makey: Piano, your students will make a piano out of a range of conductive materials such as bananas or apples before progressing to make a floor piano as seen in the classic Tom Hanks 80’s movie, “Big”.
